Ayodhya Tirth Dham
In TretaYug, Shri BhagwanVishu chose Shri Ayodhya, a holy city on the banks of river Saryu to incarnate as a human. He took birth as Shri Ram, son of Maharani Kaushalya& Maharaja Dhashrath. This historical event is a testament to religious importance and purity of the land of Ayodhya.
As per fine traditions of the time, Shri Ram along with his brother Shri Lakshman, Shri Bharat and others, took ‘Shiksha&Deeksha’ (education and training) from great Rishis (sages) of that time, in a ‘Gurukul’ (a traditional school). Graduating as a young man from the Gurukul, Shri Ram was named as a crown prince of Ayodhya. Post his marriage, to MaaSita in a ‘Swayamvar’ he was set for coronation as a King. But in a sudden turn of events, his father told him to take ‘Vanvas’ (exile in forests) for 14 years, as he had made a promise to Maharani Kakaiye, who wanted her son Shri Bharat to become the King of Ayodhya. Shri Ram was given a choice between the royal throne and honoring his father’s word. He chose the latter, setting a fine example for future generations, to put their parents before their own comfort and ambitions. Thus, he was also known as a “MaryadaPrurushottam”.
After completing, eventful 14 yrs of Vanvas Shri Ram came back to Shri Ayodhya Ji and was coronated as a King. During his reign, he established ‘RAMARAJYA’ – A Model State of Excellent Governance, along with younger brothers.
Since, Shri Ram was incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu, in his lifespan whatever animate or inanimate being (or even an atom) that came within his ambit was enriched with qualities of God for eternity.
Likewise, land of Ayodhya, birth place of MaryadaPrurushottam – Bhagwan Shri Ram became place to attain “MOKSHYA” (liberation) as is popularly known as Shri AyodhyaTrirthDham.
In 1982, at Shri AyodhyaTirthaDham,Late Shri Rama Shankar Pandey conceptualized to establish a AnnaKshetra – Shri Ram Annakshetra . The place is a distance of mere 500m from Shri Rama JanamBhoomi.
The objectives of Shri Ram Annakshetra were to provide the following to poor & needy, sanyasis and pilgrims:
1. Satwik Food (Daily Basis)
2. Clothes ,
3. Place to stay
Additionally the place promotes the following:
1. Sanatan Education
2. Self Employment Enabler
3. To establish a Ramayan Digital University for Sanatan Studies, Research & Innovation
